Following Chris Philp's retirement in July, Collins, the MP for Folkestone and Hythe, assumed responsibility as Britain's Minister for Technology and the Digital Economy.

However, Collins announced his resignation via a message on Twitter in the wake of Rishi Sunak's selection as prime minister.

Nonetheless, Sunak has decided to keep Collins' supervisor, Michelle Donelan, in her position as Secretary of State for DCMS (Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport).

Collins worked for Nadine Dorries at first during his term, and then for Donelan, who was named head of the department by Liz Truss in September.

Collins wrote, "Working with the team @DCMS to advance the Online Safety Bill and other measures to strengthen our digital economy has been a real pleasure."

"I will now continue to work from the back benches in parliament to support these efforts."

The White Paper on gambling reform, which Philp stated in his departure letter was "with No 10 for final approval," is much anticipated by the British betting sector.

Nevertheless, since July, there have been two prime ministers, but the release date of the paper has not received much attention.

There is optimism that Sunak's premiership would fulfil the demands of numerous stakeholders who have asked the government to release the White Paper as soon as feasible.

Collins provided some continuity, at least, but his exit will probably cause greater worries now.
